Predictive Turn in Alzheimer's Dementia: Ethical, Clinical, Linguistic, and Legal Aspects

Would you want to know if you will develop Alzheimer's dementia within the next 10 years? Technological advances in prediction are opening up new possibilities in this area: risks can now be assessed years before the first symptoms appear – currently mainly in people with mild cognitive impairment. In the future, it should become possible to determine the individual risk of developing the disease with increasing accuracy, even for people without cognitive impairment, using simple blood tests to identify disease-specific biomarkers. What would it mean for those affected, their families, and our healthcare system if it became increasingly possible and commonplace to know one's specific risk of developing Alzheimer's dementia?

At the international final symposium of the European research project 'Predictive Turn in Alzheimer's Dementia: Ethical, Clinical, Linguistic, and Legal Aspects (PreTAD)', interdisciplinary researchers will present their findings and the main features of the ethical framework developed for dealing with risk assessment for Alzheimer's dementia in clinical practice.

We look forward to discussing the results with you! Leading experts from various disciplines will join you in the discussion, enriching our exchange with commentary presentations.

The event will be held in a hybrid format.
